Hiring for Shop Educator / Trainer Management Role - Drybar Carmel @ Clay Terrace

 

We're seeking a Shop Educator for Drybar Carmel Clay Terrace who is passionate about the art of hair styling and blowouts, and excited for the opportunity to grow and develop a team of talented stylists.

 

Shop Educator / Training Leader Perks:

 

  • Approximate Pay ranges from $45K - $65K (includes hourly, tips, commissions & bonuses)

Enough about us, let’s talk about you! We are looking for a rockstar hair stylist educator who:

 

  • Has a preferred minimum of 1 year experience as a hairstylist or cosmetologist trainer or educator in the beauty industry in a hair salon, barber shop, or spa environment (but don’t let that deter you if you know this is the job for you!)
  • Holds a current and valid Indiana state Cosmetology license
  • Has strong organizational skills and can drive a very positive, learning and development focused culture
  • Is able to communicate in the best and worst situations to achieve the desired result and find the best solution for all
  • Has a proven track record of stellar customer service - customers love you!
  • Can pivot easily with finesse in even the most difficult moments - Multi-task with ease
  • Available to commit Full-Time in this role which would include Friday & Saturday hours

Responsibilities

Shop Educator
POSITION DESCRIPTION
In partnership with the leadership team of the shop, the Drybar Shop Educator ensures that the quality of
blowouts meets Drybar standards, and that stylists are following Drybar’s Non-Negotiables. This
individual also leads the shift operations when management is not in the shop. In addition, the Shop
Educator can be responsible for performing practical interviews of stylists, creating and executing
individualized training plans, and tracking success and progress of stylists.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY:
• Manage hair quality by upholding Drybar standards including scheduling and conducting practical
stylist interviews, developing personalized training plans, and providing follow up training
• Conduct stylist new-hire training in a timely manner, ensuring all certification criteria and
onboarding is met prior to releasing trainees to the floor
• Shop Educator will work on the books for at least 50%-75% of the time, performing blowouts and leading
the shop experience by example
• Support Bartenders with Booker and running the floor
• Work the floor / perform blowouts / step in diplomatically to redo blowouts as needed
• Product training and drive sales through product knowledge
• Ongoing training, one-on-one coaching, and conducting troubleshooting classes
• Monitor RYB-Maintaining 4.8 or higher
• Report interview results and training feedback
• Share floor and performance-related observations with Shop Manager

ESSENTIAL POSITION FUNCTIONS:
• In-shop communication and ongoing styling and product training

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Years of experience: Minimum 1 year preferred
• Cosmetology license required

 

QUALITY & SAFETY STANDARDS:
• Support enforcing State Cosmetology State Board standards and local health department standards (if
applicable) in the shop
• Maintain safe environment for team and customers.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Standing and walking for up to 8 hours
• Lifting up to 15 pounds
• Ability to use hands, wrists, and arms to style hair

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
• Productive working in a fast-paced, energetic and sound-filled environment.

Qualifications

  • Must be licensed State of Indiana Cosmetologist
  • Proficient skills in round-brush blowouts, braids and formal updo hair
  • Experience in training and/or salon leadership a plus
  • Experience in Booker or Mindbody salon point-of-sale software a plus
  • Must have full-time availability
